Wedding invitation trends for 2027

5 min read

Four wedding invitations fanned out: sugar roses under a pink sky, pearl-beaded flowers, bougainvillea over a Cypriot terrace, and blue embroidery

Invitations are having a moment of texture. After years of flat, minimal cards, couples want something that looks touched: stitched, sculpted, beaded, lit by a real sunset. And more of them now arrive on a phone first. These are the looks couples are choosing for 2027.

Embroidery and pearls

Flowers stitched in silk thread and beaded with pearls, lace from a village that has made it for centuries, leaves embroidered on blue satin. Embroidery feels made by hand for one couple, which is exactly the point, and it photographs beautifully on a screen.

Sugar flowers and gilded frames

Roses you could almost eat, frames gilded and scrolled like a palace ceiling, petals folded from paper. Sculpted, three-dimensional flowers bring the romance of a grand wedding cake to the invitation itself.

The Mediterranean, in full colour

Terracotta and bougainvillea, cobalt and whitewash, a lemon grove, a sunset over the sea. Couples marrying in Cyprus, Greece, Malta or Italy want the invitation to look like the place, and guests flying in want to see where they are going.

Invitations that move

The envelope opens, the doors swing apart, the sea moves under the sunset. A moving invitation was a novelty a few years ago; now it is what a digital invitation can do that paper cannot, and couples use it for the first moment a guest opens the link.

A palette for the guests

Rather than only a dress code, couples give guests a palette: three or four colours they would love to see. The photographs come out as one picture, and guests enjoy the brief more than a rule. Our guide to dress codes explains what each code asks for.

One invitation, several languages

Families are spread across countries, and so are guest lists. More invitations now speak more than one language, so every grandmother can read hers. On MyEventOS an invitation can be written in English, Greek, Hebrew, German or Russian, and each guest reads it in the language they choose.

Paper for keeps, a link for the replies

The printed card has not gone away; it has changed jobs. Couples print a small run for the people who will frame it, with a QR code that opens the invitation and its reply form, and send everyone else the link.

Collect the answers while you are at it

MyEventOS turns the invitation, the RSVP and the guest list into one link, and counts the replies as they land. Free to design, free to send, and the first ten replies are included.

Questions people ask

When should we choose our wedding invitation?

Once the date and the place are settled, usually six to eight months before the wedding, so the save the date and the invitation can share a design.

Are digital wedding invitations here to stay?

Yes. Even couples who print now send a link as well, because it carries the details and collects the replies. What has changed is that digital invitations are now designed as carefully as paper ones.

What colours are popular for 2027 weddings?

Soft pinks and lilac with gold, cobalt and white, terracotta with olive green, and pale blue with pearl. The common thread is warmth and texture rather than a single colour.
